Automobile Injuries

If you are injured in a car accident, it is very important to document how the accident occurred. Often over time, people’s stories may change or facts may be forgotten. Within 48 hours after an accident, most of the evidence at the scene will be lost. It is important to obtain and review the police report as soon as possible. Obtain written statements from the witnesses and take pictures of the scene, cars and the immediate area. Often if road defects or bushes, trees or shrubs contributed to the accident, they will be repaired, trimmed or corrected quickly.

Below are important things you should do if injured in a car accident.

  • Be sure you, your passengers and the other people involved in the accident are OK. If not call 911.
  • Contact the police. Be sure you talk to the police yourself so that they document the report correctly. Be sure that the police have obtained insurance information and information about the owner of the car.
  • Look for witnesses to the accident. Obtain their contact information and what they witnessed.
  • Take pictures if possible of the scene, the automobiles involved and any injuries/damages.
  • Go to the doctor. Often injuries do not show up immediately.
  • Contact your insurance company and file form SR13 with the State.
  • Contact your attorney.
  • Keep track of your expenses to include: medical bills, ambulance bills, mileage driven to doctors’ appointments, rental car expenses, broken glasses, missed work, medical equipment and any other expenses related to accident.
  • Make a diary of the events and your daily activities thereafter.

Slip and Fall Injuries

A slip and fall case is a personal injury based on a person slipping, tripping or falling because a property owner failed to make his or her property reasonably safe for visitors and tenants. If you are injured in a slip and fall accident it is important that you immediately contact the store manager, home owner or other individual in charge at the place where you fell. Often it can be unclear as to who is responsible. Was it an unsafe area? In order to prove the property owner is liable for your injury you must be able to prove that there is a dangerous condition (often caused by the property owner), he/she was aware of the dangerous condition or should have been aware of the same, and he/she had a reasonable time to correct the unsafe condition and did not do so. Below are important things you should do if injured in a slip and fall accident.

  • Notify others at the scene that you have fallen.
  • Notify the store owner or person in charge.
  • Obtain contact information of all witnesses to your fall and their statement of the condition of the area.
  • Take pictures of the area where you fell.
  • Take pictures of any injury you received.
  • Go to the doctor right away. Often injuries do not show up immediately.
  • Retain the clothes and shoes you were wearing at the time of the fall.
  • Contact your attorney right away.
  • Make a diary of your fall and your daily activities thereafter.

If you have been injured in a slip and fall accident it is important to follow certain steps to insure that you protect the evidence. Often times property owners are quick to repair dangerous conditions after someone has been hurt. Therefore it is imperative that you get pictures of the scene at the time you fell. You must report the accident to someone in charge at the time or the property owner may deny that it happened.

If the owner is negligent, we will work with you to get compensation for the injuries you received. You may be entitled to compensation for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Each case will be evaluated on its own merits.
